RMI Announces Barcode Billing for Railcar Repairs
Atlanta, GA – RMI, the largest independent provider of Transportation Management Software and comprehensive information services to the railroad industry, has announced the release of ExpressYard Barcode Repair Billing for railcar repair shops to simplify data capture, eliminate billing errors, and automate inventory control.
RMI’s ExpressYard is the industry-leading software solution for railcar repair billing, inventory management, and maintenance operations. The ExpressYard Barcode Repair Billing module dramatically improves the AAR railcar repair billing process by associating bar codes with the correct repair data to provide a failsafe means to simultaneously enter billing repair card line item information and capture inventory part allocation all with one scan. ExpressYard Barcode Billing works with both custom and standard manufacturer barcodes.
Barcode scanning saves time and eliminates costly data entry errors and ensures all nine data fields on a billing repair card line item (quantity, location, condition code, qualifiers, etc.) are automatically populated. Automated data entry eliminates billing mistakes and ensures that all repairs are properly identified and recorded. In addition, barcode scanning immediately allocates parts at the beginning of the inventory control process, providing real-time visibility on quantities needed to complete repairs.
Kirk Knauff, RMI Senior Vice President of Marketing & Services, said “Our new ExpressYard Barcode Billing module is a new and exciting innovation for railcar repair billing. We are pleased to bring a solution to market that will deliver immediate value to our customers and help them eliminate billing errors, automate inventory management, and decrease the time required to log repairs.”
