GE Transportation supports The Innovation Space at Justin Elementary School

GE Transportation teamed up with the Northwest Education Foundation (NEF) on Friday to present Justin Elementary School in North Texas with an Innovation Teaching Grant. Todd Kindel, Engineering Manufacturing Manager, presented a grant check of more than $3,000 to Kelly Barrett, the school’s Gifted and Talented Specialist, in support of Justin’s Innovation Space.

The grant will supply exploratory materials for students to create, problem-solve, and take risks with 3-D structures, connectors, robots, photography and inventions using electronics, circuits, magnetism, power sources, and sound production. This space will be available for students of all elementary grades.

All told, NEF distributed $100,000 in Innovative Teaching Grants on February 26 to teachers of Northwest ISD. Grants were funded through the generosity of community businesses and leaders, with $1.5 million being funded to date.
