Bids for Kids sets new fundraising record!
The 2016 Bids for Kids campaign was a resounding success with $285,469 raised for Erie youth organizations.
Developed by the GE Association of Program Members (APM) as a means to give back to the children of the local community, event proceeds from the February 20 Bids for Kids charity auction and Rock for Kids benefited Make-A-Wish, Boys & Girls Clubs and Shriners Children’s Hospital.
On Thursday, representatives from Make-A-Wish, Boys & Girls Clubs and Shriners Children’s Hospital were each awarded checks for $95,156.33 by GE Transportation VP of Global Supply Chain Richard Simpson and the Bids for Kids team. The crowd was ecstatic as the 2016 total well exceeded the $220,000 fundraising goal. The funds will be used to support programs in the local Erie community.
The event also featured personal stories from special guests from three children’s charities including PJ from Boys & Girls Club of Erie, Johnny from Make-A-Wish and Gage from Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
Thanks to the Bids for Kids team, GE Transportation employees, suppliers and local citizens for their support and generosity.
