Addressing Challenges in Today’s Rail Supply Chain
At GE, we speak our customers’ language and the language of industry. We are comprised of innovators, engineers, and designers. Today, our team is focused on building brilliant machines. From jet engines to wind turbines to locomotives, we are creating machines that talk to each other providing real-time, data-driven insights across a variety of industries... What do these machines mean for the shipper community and the future of rail? It is all about achieving a complete transformation of the supply chain network.
GE Transportation’s answer to this GE data-driven movement is RailConnect™ 360, a software portfolio of connected solutions that provides railroads with data-driven insights to address key customer pain points like velocity, fuel, asset utilization, productivity and dwell. RailConnect 360 will help integrate, automate, and optimize our supply chain customers’ operations. Ultimately, the software will give customers the ability to focus on the things that matter most – helping them make fast, informed decisions to grow their business.
ShipperConnect™, a key part of the RailConnect360 offering, is a holistic suite of shipper products that solve challenges when shipping by rail. ShipperConnect is a cloud-based supply chain optimization suite designed for rail shippers, terminal operators, railcar owners and 3PLs. ShipperConnect helps industrial rail shippers automate rail operations, obtain shipment visibility, and manage transportation assets and inventory.
This year GE Transportation is not only attending the Council of Supply Chain Management Professional’s (CSCMP) Annual Global Conference but I also have the privilege of helping moderate the “Rail Logistics Still Delivering Logistics Value after More than a Century” panel discussion. Key players from across the supply chain industry in railroad, rail shipper, and transload terminal operator professions will join me for the dialogue. The panel will discuss the growing challenges in shipping crude oil by rail supply and energy supply chain. We will also address how technology and operational alignment enable “seamless” integration between trading partners and carriers that serve them.
I look forward to the panel and discussing how our ShipperConnect platform gives our customers the data they need to help manage their operations and connect this data to the next steps in the rail logistics supply chain. The CSCMP Annual Global Conference is a way for customers to connect with the bright minds and discover the latest thinking in the supply chain industry. I am thrilled GE Transportation will be a key player in the event this year and look forward to connecting with industry colleagues.
