Seth Bodnar serves as Chief Digital Officer for GE Transportation, which brings together brilliant machines, data, insights, and people to drive real-time connectivity and data intelligence through a digital thread.
Prior to his current role with GE Transportation, Seth was a general manager in our Cab Electronics business, which focused on innovating and delivering onboard computer systems and train control solutions to the rail industry that improve safety, operational efficiency, capacity, cost and energy consumption. He also has held roles as a product manager in our locomotive business and roles in finance and strategic marketing at GE Corporate and GE Power and Water.
Before joining GE, Seth was a decorated officer in the United States Army. Upon commissioning, he served as an infantry rifle platoon leader in the 101st Airborne Division, with service in Iraq in 2003-2004. After being selected for and completing the U.S. Army Special Forces Qualification Course, Seth served in the 1st Special Forces Group, commanding a detachment of Green Berets during multiple overseas deployments. Upon completing his command, he served in Baghdad as special assistant to the commanding general of Multi-National Force-Iraq and later as an assistant professor of economics at West Point.
A native of Franklin, Pennsylvania, Seth received a BS in economics from the United States Military Academy at West Point, graduating first in his class. He is a recipient of both the Rhodes and Truman scholarships and holds two masters degrees from the University of Oxford.
He and his wife, Chelsea, live in Chicago with their three children.
