Jim Hilderhoff joined GE Transportation in 1989 as a member of the Technical Sales Leadership Program. Upon graduating from this program, Jim joined the international proposals group. He moved to Montreal in 1993 to lead Transportation's Sales and Service for Canada.
In 1996, Jim joined GE Energy's Service business holding a variety of positions in Parts Sales and Marketing before returning to Transportation in 1999. Since then, he gained valuable experience in the rail industry as both Service and TST Leader for BNSF.
Jim was promoted to Transportation’s executive staff as the GM of Marketing in November 2007. A year later, in December 2008, he was appointed GM of the Global Services Operation, wherein he had full responsibility for Services P&L for North America, South America and China, which included fleet and contract performance. Jim personally received the GE Chairman’s Award in 2014 and shared in the Business of the Year Award which Transportation was presented in 2015. Jim remained in his position with Services until he was promoted into the commercial team for GE Transportation as their Global Commercial Leader in January, 2016.
Jim holds an undergraduate degree in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Penn State University and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania.
