Athena Kaviris is the Senior Human Resources Leader for GE Transportation, a global leader in rail, mining and marine industries with annual revenue of $5.9 billion and 10,000 employees globally. She has over 20 years of experience in Human Resources. Her areas of expertise include organizational development, operations, mergers & acquisitions, and integration.
Athena joined GE Transportation in 2015 from GE Aviation, where she was the Senior Human Resources Leader for Supply Chain. In this role she led HR in more than 80 plants in 12 countries, with over 30,000 employees that develop, manufacture, assemble, repair and overhaul jet engines and systems for commercial and military applications.
Prior to her role with GE Aviation, Athena was the Human Resources Leader of GE Capital Americas and previously the global Human Resources Leader of GE Capital Solutions. Athena began her General Electric career in 1996 with GE Industrial Systems in Europe. There, Athena held a number of staff and operating Human Resource roles. Athena has held a variety of operating and corporate roles throughout GE including leadership assignments at GE Lighting, GE Industrial and GE Energy.
Athena completed her master’s degree course work in Organizational Development at the University of San Francisco and has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Business Administration from the State University of New York at Albany.
